More about the opportunity
In this role, you will work within a team of technicians in the model shop and wind tunnel environments to produce, deliver, and test high-quality test components and assemblies for wind tunnel testing. Team members are encouraged to challenge established thinking and share their ideas to create an environment where everyone can contribute to our shared success.
What you will be doing
- Ensure Wind Tunnel project parts/assemblies are manufactured to a high standard and to the required deadlines
- Carry out changes during Wind Tunnel testing programs, maintain model quality and operate within a Formula 1® Wind Tunnel environment
- Support the Lead Model Technicians with the Model Shop workload and meeting targets
- Build large complex mechanical assemblies for the Wind Tunnel model
- Deal with technical challenges and diagnose/solve problems
- Work with the Model Design Engineers to improve the efficiency of model changes, and the quality of model parts
- Mentor junior members of the team
- Support the management of Health and Safety requirements
- Occasional travel to Germany required
Requirements
- Current experience of Wind Tunnel model part preparation, and wind tunnel testing
- Extensive experience in model-making in a high-level motorsport environment (preferably Formula 1®)
- Strong knowledge of mechanical installations and assemblies
- Experience and knowledge of metrology equipment
- Willingness to travel regularly throughout the year, including at weekends
- Possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
- Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors
- Ability to lead and mentor others effectively
- Clear and concise communication, verbally and with the use of email
- Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture
